SaaS Email Audits

I go through your entire email sequence and tell you exactly where you’re losing users. You get a detailed report with specific fixes. $349.

The Problem

Most SaaS companies set up their onboarding emails once and never look at them again. They were written quickly, probably by whoever was available at the time, and they’ve been running on autopilot since.

Meanwhile, people sign up for your product every day. Some of them convert. A lot of them don’t. And somewhere in that gap between signing up and becoming a paying customer, your emails are either helping or they’re not.

The problem is that nobody’s looking. Your team is focused on the product, on acquisition, on a dozen other things. The emails just sit there, doing whatever they’re doing, and nobody has the time to figure out whether they’re actually working.

That’s what I do. I look at the emails.

What You Get

A complete teardown of your email sequences for $349.

I can approach this in whatever way works best for you. I’ll sign up for your product and go through the onboarding flow as a real user would, or you can send me your existing emails directly, or I can review them inside your email platform. However your emails reach me, you get back a detailed report covering everything I find.

The full sequence, reviewed email by email.

Every email you send gets assessed on its own terms. Subject line, timing, content, call to action, tone. I’ll tell you what’s doing its job and what’s falling flat, with specific notes on each one.

The gaps in your setup.

Often the biggest problem isn’t the emails you’re sending. It’s the ones you’re not. Missing welcome emails, no trial expiration sequence, nothing for users who go quiet. I’ll map out what’s absent and what it’s costing you.

A prioritised list of recommendations.

Not a vague list of suggestions. Specific changes, ranked by likely impact, that your team can start implementing immediately. I’ll tell you which fixes will make the biggest difference so you know where to focus first.

Quick wins you can act on today.

Every audit includes a section of small, concrete changes that take minutes to implement. Subject line tweaks, timing adjustments, CTA improvements. Things you can fix the same day you read the report.

How I Think About Email

I review SaaS emails every week. I spend a good portion of my time signing up for SaaS products and studying their email sequences. I publish detailed teardowns on my blog, breaking down what companies are doing well and where they’re losing users.

This means when I audit your emails, I’m comparing them against a current, working knowledge of what other SaaS companies are doing. I know what good looks like in this space because I’m looking at it constantly.

A BIT ABOUT ME

Nice to meet you.

I’m Jon. I’ve been writing professionally for close to 20 years, and I’ve spent a large part of that time working on email. I’ve written and reviewed thousands of email campaigns, and I understand how small changes in timing, structure, and wording affect whether someone opens, clicks, or ignores.

These days I focus entirely on SaaS email. I audit onboarding sequences, lifecycle flows, and newsletters for SaaS companies, and I publish regular teardowns of how different products handle their email.

I’m based in Argentina and work with clients remotely. Communication is usually over email, with the occasional video call if you’d prefer to talk things through.

How It Works

You get in touch.

Tell me about your product and what your current email setup looks like. If it sounds like an audit would be useful, we go from there.

I review everything.

Depending on what suits you, I’ll sign up and experience the emails as a new user, work from emails you send me, or go into your email platform directly. Whatever the approach, I document the full sequence and take detailed notes on what I find.

You get the report.

A structured document with my analysis of every email, a gap analysis of what’s missing, prioritised recommendations, and quick wins. Usually delivered within two weeks of starting.

Then it’s up to you.

Some clients take the report and implement the changes themselves. Others ask me to write the new emails for them. Either way works. The audit stands on its own as a useful piece of work regardless of what you do next.

FAQs

That’s fine, and honestly quite common. A big part of most audits is identifying what’s missing. If you’ve only got a basic welcome email and nothing else, the report will focus on what you should be sending and in what order.

Not necessarily. I can work from the emails themselves, either by signing up as a user or from emails you forward to me. But if you’d like me to go into your platform and review things there, including open rates, click data, and sequence structure, I’m happy to do that too. We’ll figure out the best approach when we talk.

I can work with whatever you’re using. Customer.io, Loops, ActiveCampaign, Mailchimp, Drip, or anything else. If I’m reviewing from inside your platform, I’ll familiarise myself with the setup. If I’m working from the emails directly, the platform doesn’t matter at all.

Yes. Many clients use the audit as a starting point and then hire me to write the revised sequence. I’ll include a quote for that work alongside the audit report if you’re interested.

Usually around two weeks from when we start. It depends partly on how long your onboarding sequence is and how many emails I need to go through.

I want you to find it genuinely useful. If the report doesn’t give you clear, actionable insights you can use, I’ll make it right.
